How does SkinPen Microneedling fit into my skin care journey?

How does SkinPen Microneedling fit into my skin care journey?

There is a vast array of skincare treatments available today- many of you come for wrinkle reduction and dermal fillers already. We also need to focus in the skin itself when we’re trying to improve overall youthfulness and skin quality. Microneedling has gained significant popularity due to its ability to rejuvenate the skin so effectively. One particular microneedling device, the SkinPen, has emerged as the market leader in building collagen, reducing scars and wrinkles.

What is SkinPen Microneedling?

SkinPen is an advanced medical-grade microneedling device that utilizes a technique called collagen induction therapy to improve the texture, tone, and overall appearance of the skin. The device features a cluster of tiny, sterile needles that create microchannels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, leading to tighter, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. It’s the production of collagen and elastin, the essential proteins, that contribute to the skin’s strength and elasticity. This process helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, resulting in a more youthful and radiant complexion.

Other indications:

As well as fine line and skin quality SkinPen holds licenses for acne scarring, pigment changes in the skin including vitiligo, melasma and sun spots, surgical scars and stretch marks.

It can be used on any part of the body; often the face but commonly and safely used on the neck, the décolletage and the hands. Areas that maybe other treatments are less effective.

Downtime:

Unlike some invasive cosmetic procedures, SkinPen microneedling is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment. The procedure is well-tolerated and downtime is typically minimal, with some redness and mild swelling that subside within a few days. This makes it a convenient option for individuals with busy lifestyles.

Very importantly you can not apply any product to the skin for 24 hours so avoid sun exposure as you won’t be able to apply your normal SPF.

FAQ:

What do I need to do before my treatment?

We advise you avoid topical retinols for 3 days before your treatment. Ideally leave make up off the day of your treatment but we can always remove it if you don’t have the chance.

How long will it take?

We typically find treatment lasts about 45 minutes but the more areas you’re having treated the longer it will last.

Does it hurt?

We do use numbing cream during treatment. It tends to be more ticklish than painful but if there’s any problems we can always stop the procedure.

What shall I do after my treatment?

For 24 hours after the treatment you can not apply anything to your skin (other than the Lift HG you will be issued). It’s therefore important to avoid sun exposure as you won’t be applying SPF. Make up and face creams are also out.

After 24 hours you can return to your usual routine.
